"Flower farm fights decline" - Sandra Godwin, Weekly Times Now

"Flower Farm Fights Decline"A decline in the number of active wildflower growers in Australia has prompted a major exporter to move into production.

WAFEX, a leading exporter and importer of fresh and dried flowers and foliage, recently took over management of a 32ha flower farm at Longford, near Sale, after the previous owners retired and sold the farm to a group of investors.

WAFEX director Adrian Parsons said the decision was prompted by concerns about the security of wildflower supply over the next decade.

"The industry is not expanding, our growers are getting older and drought and exchange rates have had an impact on returns," Mr Parsons said.
